Goat video trend

They have taken the world by storm. They have made millions of people of all ages laugh until they cry since their first appearance on the entertainment scene.Screen Shot 2013-03-09 at 6.08.16 PM

You may think I’m talking about the cast of Modern Family, which is coincidentally one of this writer’s favorite shows of all time, but the folks we’re spotlighting today aren’t actually people at all. They walk on four legs, are furry and cute, and make some pretty interesting sounds.

Creative people all YouTube have edited goat noises into dozens of popular songs, films and, even television shows. These eclectic offerings range from the goat version of “Hey Jude,” to the song that started the goat video trend, Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble.”

These videos are highly entertaining when done right. However, they are downright hilarious when edited to sound exactly like the original songs.

My personal favorite goat video is the late great Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.” It is a true masterpiece, and manages to crack me up every time I listen to it.

The appeal of these videos is hard to describe, but I think what does it for me is the mix of their comedic elements, and just how darn cute these animals can be (especially the “Yeah” goat).

If you are stressing out from midterms week, I highly suggest a heavy dose of goat videos this weekend to recharge and let all the stress dissipate as these furry bundles of joy belt out one classic song after another. After all, laughter is the best medicine.
